What is the difference between a Class A and Class B CDL?

The main difference between a Class A and Class B CDL is the type of vehicles you are permitted to drive. A Class A CDL allows you to operate combination vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more, including towed units over 10,000 pounds. A Class B CDL permits you to drive single vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more, or tow vehicles not exceeding 10,000 pounds GVWR.
